Quick start
From a fresh install to your first agent session, in five minutes.
You need Seshat installed first: see Installation.

Configure your provider. Give Seshat an API key and pick a model.
seshat config --provider anthropic --api-key sk-ant-... seshat config --model anthropic:claude-sonnet-4-20250514 seshat config --printThe last command prints the current configuration so you can check it.

Start a chat. This opens the terminal interface.
seshat chat -
Or run a one-shot task without opening the interface. Seshat does the work and prints the result.
seshat run "list all TODO comments in this codebase"
Pick up where you left off
Sessions are saved locally. You can come back to them at any time:
seshat chat --continue # resume the most recent session
seshat chat --resume <session-id> # resume a specific session
seshat sessions list # browse past sessions
